2016 BOWEN Bull Sale
Bowen Breaks Herefords Australia on property bull sale average record.
The Peake family of Bowen Poll Herefords and Peakes Angus celebrated their 21st on property bull sale last Thursday.
Buyers from all states and territories excluding Western Australia, cleared 120 bulls with an overall sale average $11,025.
Bowen Breaks Poll Hereford Australian Record with an average of $11,700, With Lot 4 going for $70,000 to the Holcombe family,Rayleigh Herefords.
Underbiddders on lot 4, Don McDouall and son Sam of Pipersleigh Herefords purchasing lot 16, Bowen Spark K204 for $32,000 for the second top price.
Peakes Angus also did extremely well averaging $10,500, with Lot 73 going for $30,00 to The Durkin family, Mountain Valley Angus. Second top price Angus bull Lot 77 sold to the Irelands Angus Stud $27,000.
Bulk buyers this year included Windradeen Corporation, Scone purchased three Poll Hereford bulls to average $11,333. Undoolya Station, Alice Springs, NT purchased three Poll Hereford bulls to top at $12,000 and average $5750; In the Angus, Moree producers, Oakland Pastoral Company bought seven bulls to top at $16,000 and average $11,143 whilst Jim O’Brien, “Peri” Rocky Creek loaded six bulls to average $14,000. Heathfield Past. Co Moree purchased four Angus bulls to Average $10,000.
Local bull buyers from Barraba area at this years sale included, Pipersleigh Herefords , Bareela Past. Co, Amaroo Partnership, C & L Forbes,Plumthorpe Pastoral, F. Allan,WJ & MM Bottrell, J & C Hartley, AS. Alison, JJ & JM O’Brien, Bells Mountain Past. Co., Doonba Pastoral Co. Kyooma Pastoral Co, DM & AM Forrest, Rock Glen Ag, Pembury Pastoral, Glenborah Partnership. AD Hall, R & G Bomford & N & D Bomford.
